Today I would like to introduce you to the third WLAN repeater from Netgear, which I have also provided free of charge for a test: Netgear AC750 EX3800 Range extender. I've already told you about the EX3700 and EX2700.NETGEAR_Markenbotschafter_Button

Why a range extender?

A WLAN repeater is used whenever the router's WLAN is too weak to be used in the whole apartment. Or even if you would like to be in the garden or on the balcony Internet, the router is too far away. With a repeater or range extender, the range of the already existing WLAN can be increased and the WLAN amplified. In our apartment we have very thick walls, so that we have, for example, in the bathroom only very bad to no reception. But there is hardly anything more comfortable than lying in the bathtub and listening to music from YouTube or even watching streams. Without a repeater, this is unfortunately not feasible at all.

Appearance and technical data

The most important optical feature of the Netgear AC750 EX3800 Range Extender, which distinguishes it from the models already presented, is the built-in, undisturbed outlet. Just like the other two models, the EX3800 has two adjustable antennas. With the Netgear AC750 WLAN range extender You can increase the range and performance of your Internet. It is possible to have AC-dual-band WLAN up to 750 Mbit/s. The repeater is compatible with any standard WLAN router.

Installation and handling of the Netgear AC750 EX3800 Range Extender

Even with this device, the installation is very easy to perform via the mobile phone. You plug the Repeater into a socket near the router, connect to the corresponding WLAN, logs (as described in the instructions) and go through all the steps. You can't really do something wrong. Then you should also make a firmware update directly. Alternatively, you can also connect via WPS. Since my router does not have a wps button, I cannot say anything about this function.

The advantage of this range extender is clearly in the integrated socket. Especially in rooms where you have only a few sockets, or even on the balcony/terrace, this is really practical, because you can, for example, the laptop, the mobile phone or tablet while surfing with power supply. Not that it would be good for the phone, but you have at least the possibility. Of course you can put any electrical equipment into the socket of the repeater and thus supply and use power and is not limited to its multimedia devices. Thanks to the fast WLAN, trouble-free HD streaming or gaming via WLAN is now no longer a problem, even if several want to use the Internet at the same time, at least a power of up to 750 Mbit/s is possible.

Comparison with the EX3700 and EX2700

Since I have now introduced two more repeaters, I would like to try today to make a small recommendation which repeater is best for whom. I would like to show you a comparison graphic with the technical data of all three models.

NetgearOne sees very well that the EX2700 has a lower range and a weaker internet than the other two models. In addition, this model does not have a 5GHz WLAN. This range extender also costs only around €25. It is thus much cheaper than the other two models. For those who only need a range increase or want to bring their LAN devices like game consoles or smart-TV on the net, it is perfectly sufficient.

Those who want to put a high value on a faster WLAN connection or take advantage of the respective advantages of the other two devices (even greater range, dual-band WLAN, access point (only EX3700) or Undisturbed outlet (EX3800)), which should look at one of the other two models. They are about the same price with €50, so it is crucial whether you prefer to use the possibility of power supply of your hardware or if you prefer to set up an access point. They are very similar in terms of range and other technical data.

My conclusion

I don't like to be without a repeater anymore. Especially on the balcony, where we have only one power supply, this model is unbeatable, as we do not have to use a multioutlet outside. The performance is also great, although in our apartment the EX2700 would have been sufficient. Meanwhile I don't want to miss the Netgear AC750 EX3800 range extender anymore and use it quite often. For example, you can buy the repeater here *.
